X-FAB UK Ltd is a manufacturer of Semiconductors and is located in the historic naval port of Plymouth, South West England, on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park.

The company employs a highly skilled workforce, which combined with our use of cutting edge technologies enables us to operate successfully in what is a highly competitive international market place. You will find our Wafers in a variety of 'critical' applications including heart pacemakers, hearing aids, mobile phones, PC's and cars from across the automotive industry.

The principle product produced at X-FAB UK is a silicon wafer as shown. Each wafer consists of up to 10,000 individual integrated circuits (IC's) that are packaged into the "Silicon Chips" which operate at the heart of most electrical products.

In the field of mixed-signal applications, X-FAB has the broadest range of process technologies throughout the world, and we thus occupy a key position in the semiconductor market as specialists in the production of silicon wafers. The Company has recently invested in expanding the site capability, which has significantly expanded the current capacity and enabled new technologies to be developed.

The stringent technical needs for the manufacture of high quality wafers requires the building to have a high level of cleanliness, strict anti-vibration, temperature and humidity control. To meet these requirements silicon wafers are manufactured in a clean room environment, requiring our operators to wear special suits. The manufacturing process is technically complex with over 300 processing steps requiring precise control and sophisticated equipment.

We therefore need to source and select highly motivated and competent operators who possess the personal qualities that will enable them to thrive in our hi-tech environment. To this end we have appointed Edge Recruits as our exclusive recruitment agency for Operators at X-FAB UK."
